![]() ![]() Here's the trailer for you, if you haven't seen it yet, followed by some need-to-know facts about the upcoming film. With Ted standing as the highest-grossing original R-rated comedy of all time, it's no surprise that fans have got high hopes for the sequel. Some big names are confirmed (if you've seen the trailer, there'll be no surprises there), and it's looking like it might be one of the funniest films to come out this summer - although this opinion might be based on the bit in the trailer where Mark Wahlberg is squashed under hundreds of sperm sample pots. And no doubt the new film is going to be full of drug taking, expletives, thunder buddies, and above all, a great friendship between a man and his obnoxious talking toy. That leads to bigger problems, however, when it comes into legal question whether or not Ted truly has the right to raise a child. The first hurdle they encounter is Teds inability to reproduce, leading the couple to seek a sperm donor. Written, directed and starring MacFarlane, Ted 2 sees the titular toy (MacFarlane) and new wife, Tami-Lynn wanting to conceive a child. John's sadness at losing Lori is absolutely believable, but Ted 2's only suggestion for him is finding someone new, and that just doesn't work.Due for release on 26th June, fans of Seth MacFarlane's favorite movie teddy bear don't have that much longer to wait until Ted 2 is on the big screens. Wahlberg is given less to do here than in the original, with John's main story his trying to get past Lori and it's clear from the moment she first appears that Sam is the answer. A climactic chase sequence in the sequel succeeds not because it's terribly new or different, but because it has the unlikely pair at its core. That relationship here in Ted 2 is just as good and just as real and heartfelt. It isn't hard to believe that you would wind up caring about the interactions between two humans, but watching Ted, you actually end up caring more about John and his living teddy bear than anything else. ![]() The first Ted works so well because the relationships between John and Ted and John and Lori feel real. A different excuse to not feature Lori in the film would have been far preferable than the tired one we are given. Lori's absence here in the wake of the events of the first movie is regrettable no matter how many times John insists to various people that the relationship just didn't work. Jackson, the sequel is done no favors by the fact that the first movie is heavily focused on John trying to work out his relationship with Kunis' Lori, the love of his life. While Seyfried is unquestionably funny in the role of lawyer Samantha L. Notably absent this time out is Mila Kunis with Amanda Seyfried stepping in as John's new love interest. Also returning are Mark Wahlberg as John, Jessica Barth as Tami-Lynn, and even Giovanni Ribisi as Donny. Seth MacFarlane is back as the director for the sequel and still voices the living bear. Some jokes do miss and the story is somewhat weaker than the first movie, but enough of it lands to put a smile on your face as you walk out of the theater, and that's really all you can ask. It may be strange then-to be fair though, not more strange than the main character-but Ted 2 is definitely more successful than not. ![]() New jokes for the old characters can be exceptionally difficult to come by and you can only retell the old jokes in so many ways. Ted movie quotes include some of the funniest lines from this 2012 raunchy comedy movie starring Mark Wahlberg as John Bennett, a man trying to deal with the fact that his childhood teddy bear (who came to life when John was a kid) is his now constant companion. Going back to the well is a dangerous thing, especially for a comedy. ![]()
